How to integrate Expensify with Sapho version 3.9 or greater

Last update:

Getting Expensify UserID and Secret

Important Notes

1. We recommend creating a dedicated Expensify account (for example, sapho@company.com) and then using it to set up the Expensify connector in Sapho. This account must be invited to all expense policies in your organization and have the role of Policy Admin. This will be particularly useful for audit logs.

2. If your internal server hosting Sapho is behind a firewall, you will need to allow access to hostname www.expensify.com with port 443, so Sapho can connect to the Expensify cloud.

Step 1: Sign in

Log in to www.expensify.com with the dedicated user account.

Step 2: Generate your credentials

Go to https://www.expensify.com/tools/integrations/. Copy & paste the values for partnerUserID and partnerUserSecret in a secure place for later reference.

Step 3: Paste the credentials in Sapho

Paste the credentials obtained at Step 2 in the UserID and, respectively, Secret input fields of the connector configuration form for Expensify in Sapho.

Audit Trail

Once you have created a dedicated account in Expensify and set up the connector in Sapho using that account, you will be able to ensure transparency in your audit logs. All reports reimbursed through Sapho will have their reimburser set to the special account (e.g. sapho@company.com).
